Qs Regarding Translation Style & Accuracy
This translation project is run solely by me. I use Pleco and Wiktionary for words and phrases I do not recognise, but please understand that I will still make mistakes and fail to catch typos and errors. You are more than welcome to point them out to me!
I try to keep the same or similar sentence structure and leave idioms, turns of phrase, sound effects, etc. unaltered and as close to the original Chinese as possible. If I feel that context is necessary to understand something, I will include a footnote, but it is my general modus operandi to treat the reader as a veteran of Chinese novels and the Xianxia and Wuxia genres. If you do not understand something, feel free to leave a comment or message me on Novel Updates.
I am generally interested in poetics and hope to capture that in my translations while preserving accuracy. Suggestions regarding a more poetic way to capture a phrase or idiom are also welcome.
I am happily unemployed/self-employed, so I spend the equivalent of a part-time job translating most weeks. As a result, I can translate at a faster pace than many fan translators. This being said, I am a disabled person, so there will be times when I post less frequently.
Qs Regarding EPubs, Posting to Other Sites, Re-Translating
I completely understand the need and desire to read via epub, but creating and disrupting them online is bad for the orginal creators. Please do not do this. If you have trouble reading on this site for accessibility-related reasons, I am happy to accommodate you upon request on a case-by-case basis.
Please do not post these translations to another site. It is free (and ad-free!) to read the translation here but on other sites, like Wuxia Click, where web crawlers and certain individuals steal and repost them, they are getting ad revenue. It is illegal to make a profit off of an unofficial translation. Please let me know if you see this translation posted elsewhere.
Again, because this is a fan translation, it's a bit convoluted to re-translate my words into another language. Re-translating this work into another language is like a game of telephone—things will get lost! That being said, as long as you're upfront about doing a re-translation of a translation, I am open to considering your request.
If you want to translate any work I've already posted from scratch, go ahead. The more, the merrier.
Qs Regarding Site Issues
Link broken? Something not working quite right? Let me know! I'll do my best to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Qs Regarding Translation Requests
After I've caught up or completed my current project, I will be open to translation requests. Please only submit a request once using the Google Form at the bottom of the page.
I will only seriously consider novels in the Xianxia or Wuxia genre, and they must either be Danmei or Baihe. I simply can't see myself focusing on a straight romance plot and I don't personally enjoy novels with modern or futuristic settings, with some rare exceptions.
