Foot Notes

1. 登徒子(dēng tú zǐ) is equivalent to “Don Juan” or “lecher” in English. He was a character (he’s probably fictional, but he could be based on a real person) from a story from the Warring States Period called “Dengtu Zi Lustful Fugue”. His name became synonymous with “skirt-chaster” because of the story.

2. 肥手收回来 (féi shǒu shōu huí lái) isn’t an idiom, but it conveys an idea like “clumsy hand” here, he’s embarrassed so his hands “feel fat” or cumbersome.
